I started to refine the model, Making the body more natural, adding asymmetry whilst adding and taking away volume. I refined the face and started painting and adding skin details to the entire model. I am really happy with how it turned out and I am 90% ready to start the clothing and accessories. I recorded the whole process, while taking screenshots and renders, I will post this on Youtube and briefly discuss what happens in the Video in the Development section of my page. Here is a slideshow of what I have done today:

I have finished the Blades Of Carnage. I have finished sculpting it in Zbrush,Texturing in Zbrush and Substance Painter and rendering in Arnold. I added more to my R&D and research on God Of War Here is what they look like: I began Poly modelling in Maya, I haven't used Maya in 5 Months and I needed to model the Blades Of Carnage for Váli, so I don't forget it and panic last minute. I used reference from God Of War's Blades of Chaos. I finished Modelling them today and now I have to get it to final model and refine and texture it. I have also added more to the Research and Development section of my website. I am now discussing the survey results and discussing what I learnt from it.
Here is a screenshot of the Blade: I am now developing the Final Model, I have gone a few steps back, to when the body is ready and not posed, I am now starting to make the muscle better and adding asymmetrical details, so it doesn't look so clean and perfect. I added more to the development page of the body and adding more research to Norse Mythology and God Of War. Here Is Screenshots of the Body so Far: I have completed the Concept Art, I used the BPR Render in Zbrush and exported all the necessary passes and composed it all in photoshop. Overall I am happy that I have the Concept done, but I'm not happy with how it looks, but it gives me a solid idea of what I need to do for the final model. The concept isn't going to stop from adding new thind to the final design and of course, refining and making a solid piece. Here is the Concept and Some screenshots: I began to redo the head for Váli's Concept Sculpt, I'm liking it so far, I decided to get the concept done before the 23rd, because if I spend any longer on the concept, I won't have sufficient time to get the final model done.
The head is Blocked out and Doesn't look right, I'm worried that I will rush the concept, but If i do, It won't be much of an issue because it won't be the final model, so I'm not bothered if it is not what I'm looking for, It's tough deciding if I should make a solid concept or finish it quickly and then focus on the final model. I have finished the Polypainting for Vái, I kept looking at it and making sure that it was going to look good as a concept, but I was not happy with the face, it didn't suit the body and it looked bad, the cheeks were too far out and the jaw was too thin, there was so many errors, so my next step is to redo the face and then make sure I have a solid Concept to go off when I start making the final model. I am really happy with the Skin texture for the body, I love the variation in the skin with the reds, blues and yellow being mixed together, I like the clothing design. The only issue is the face.
Here is a screenshot of what I have done today: Today I began to add more to the Backstory of Váli, talking about his previous life and adding more to how he becomes a norse god and started to sculpt more clothing and adding more detail to the skin, I am getting close to using polypaint to add the colour to the skin so it doesn't look so flat.
I began sculpting the face for my concept sculpt. It was very difficult to establish what type of expression I wanted and how to show that on a young adult. I had also added to my website, discussing some R&D.
Here is a screenshot I began to add some research to the Norse Mythology sectio of the pre production and have added another layer of clothing to Váli
Today I blocked out some assets for the Character, I understood what I wanted but I began to look more Greek than Norse, and that isn't the look I want to make. So I am going to go through the a bunch of viking clothing and look at the new Assassin's Creed Valhalla to find some inspiration.
I Continued with some research and adding to my production page, Tomorrow I will be adding more to my character tomorrow.
Today was our pitch for our project. I went to much detail on my idea and how I was going to achieve it, and also discussed the importance of anatomy of the body and how I begin sculpting one. I was told that I was very clear on what I want to be in the future and discussed my inspirations and how I use them to get to where I want to go. I also continued sculpting my character and have begun the concept sculpt by adding accessories and clothing, Today I added tattoos and a rope on his leather trousers, but the trousers are too tight and will be adjusted by the end of the week. Here are some Screenshots. I've continued with my website, adding to my backstory and Váli's character profile and adding more to my production page, further discussing blockout and refinement. I have also posed my character for when I pitch, It is a concept and doesn't have any clothing but it will be ready for monday and I can continue on it for next week, I have fixed the triceps and the overall gesture of Váli and I hope it will portray a fighter like setting. Here are some screenshots. Today I have been experimenting with skin details and texture on a face i have been working on for personal use, I have also been building my website's production page ,discussing anatomy and gathering / using reference. Here is an image of the Skin detail experiment: I have organised the unit 9&10 page, I have a pre -production and production page, and I have begun to add to my Production Page, to sum up what I have done with Váli in Zbrush.
I have been working on Váli's Profile and Backstory, and the character design. I am happy with my work so far, we have less than two months to complete this, and I know that the time will fly by so now is the time to focus and make sure i leave no stone unturned. My Character's Profile and information is in the Pre-Production section of my page, there you will find, concept art, Character Profile, Backstory and further research into the history of norse Mythology. Here is a screenshot of what I have done in Zbrush, I have refined the body anatomy and now I can move onto the face and the clothing. |
