I have finished all of my work. I'm a bit disappointed because I didn't have time to discuss the Rigging, but I'm happy that I was able to give it a go. I am ready for my Final Major Project and have the drive to create something incredible. I'm so happy that I am able to work on unit 13. Here are screenshots of what I have done today:

I completed a course in Face rigging that I bought from the FlippedNormals website. I learnt a lot from the course and had the chance to understand why rigging is extremely hard. The course came with a female base head with clean topology and UV's so I could focus on the rig entirely. There are many things to consider when rigging a human face.
Here are some screenshots from my rig: Today I'm finishing up on some renders for the hair study. I added a section following a new workflow. I was following a Video by FlippedNormals which helped me a lot. Here is the results following that video: This was 30 minutes of experimenting with manually controlling the guides and messing around with layering modifiers. It was interesting and compared to other methods I had used, this one was more efficient and effective so I'll be doing my grooming by placing and controlling guides.
Coming back from half term, I have finished my Title Sequence and uploaded it to YouTube. I have finished the production page and the evaluation for it and I have finished my Hair Study. Here is a link to the finished Title Sequence: I have finished my anatomy study. I am really happy that I got it done in time. This being done now gives me two weeks to complete my Xgen and rigging studies. I'm hoping that I can get it done in time. Here are renders of my anatomy study. Today's main focus was the skin texturing and detailing. I have finished the rendering of my process video and have uploaded to YouTube. The writing part of the study is done and I have the rest of the week to complete my Title Sequence and Anatomy Study. For most of the day I was completing my Anatomy study. I am finished with the study and all I need to do for it is to write about it. I began writing the process of sculpting the body. I should have this study done by the end of the week, along with the skin detailing.
I was editing my title sequence for most of the day and updated my blogs. I have got 3 shots left to edit and once that is ready, I can start rendering.
I began recording my process for Skin texturing and detailing. I had to postpone it because I had to work on some written work. I was recording for a couple of hours and had to edit a few things together.
I'm almost finished with my anatomy study page. I had discussed common mistakes artist's tend to make when building a human body in Zbrush. I was doing some zbrush work along with some Mari projecting work. I was going between some of the task needed to be done.
I have been doing more written. I was focusing mostly on the Skin texturing and detailing with Mari. I was talking about other people's methods from the texturing.xyz blogs. One of my favourites is the Star Wars Kenobi portrait. I was talking about the artist's method and why I wouldn't be able to do it. One of the software he used was Wrap. It doesn't have a student license and it would be time consuming to learn it. I didn't find it efficient because there is more clean up than using Mari.
I was continuing in some personal work and have been doing written work. This project is more of a practice for character design. I want to improve not only technically but artistically too.
This is the Female Samurai project. I have a decent blockout now. I can start to refine and add details by next week. I am halfway finished with painting Displacement in Mari. I'm finding the navigation confusing. I've been used to substance controls for projecting and have been using Substance Painter longer than Mari, but I'm getting the hang of it and it's important to take my time when painting the displacement. I'm happy with how it looks so far. by next week it should be ready to go back into Zbrush.
I am focusing on my anatomy study today. I was watching courses and looking at YouTube to understand the principles of Character modelling. One thing I noticed I did wrong was not establish bony landmarks on the back i.e. the spine and scapula. Here is what I have done today. I notice that the posture needs to be adjusted because it looks like there is no ribcage holding the chest and abdominal areas.
I have been testing some shots from my title sequence. I have one shot rendered but I'm still trying to figure the best composition for my other shots. It's stopping me from writing so I'm going to set up one scene today and have it rendered. I'll be writing more on my other studies tomorrow
I have been adding a bit more written work onto my Skin Texturing and Detailing with Zbrush and I plan to do Mari tomorrow. I've been looking at some references in skin and have looked at Texturing.xyz websites. I understand that I have to make sure I keep the details scale the same so it looks natural and not be a random mix of details.
I'm getting closer to building a solid anatomy study. I've been taking notes from many artists and have been translating them into my own words. I'm really happy with how it turned out and making really good progress.
I was doing a mix of written work and some zbrush work for a japanese Samurai. I also added more to the title sequence. Here are some screenshots of what happened today
I was continuing the written work for the Anatomy Study and the pre-production of the Title Sequence. I plan to do some sketches for each scene using some storyboards. I have some plans to discuss my Final Project as it will influence this unit.
Today I continued with my Anatomy Study and started to refine some of large muscle groups. I have looked at a lot of reference and have been getting feedback from artists from the FlippedNormals discord and on Instagram. I use this a lot so I can develop as a character Artist and
Today I started the Title sequence in After Effects. figured that I could make some interesting shots with a mix of smoke, particles, flares and motion graphics. I have one scene done so far and I have another 20 seconds to animate and render. I pan to do more torso sculpting for my anatomy study for next week. Hopefully on Friday, I can experiment with Mari.
I have been doing a few more projects behind the scenes. I have been making a female Samurai warrior where she has a Bo Staff and armour. I have been doing some block outs for that today and have been thinking of some ways to create a title sequence. This Blockout isn't the greatest it will develop into something greater and it's the patience that is important when character modelling.
I started thinking about doing a title sequence for unit 12 but I don't know if that's enough work. I wasn't going to do anything complicated but it can't be too simple. I want to have a mix of animation and research so I can show that I've been doing a lot of studies and preparing for my Final Project. One of the projects I was working on was a male Anatomy Study. Here is the what I have got so far:
Because of COVID-19, we have gone back to full time zoom lessons. I'm not happy about that but it's not going to stop me from learning and working on my craft. After Units 9-11, we had a screening of everyone's work and I loved everyone's work. I wasn't thoroughly impressed with my work but I was really happy with what I made. Once the screening was done we got briefed on Unit 12. We could make something commercial and back it up with an essay minimum of 1500 words. I have been exploring a bunch of things I could study so I could add that to this unit but I'm not sure right now.
The 17th December-4th January was half term. I was working everyday to develop my character and make sure everything in my website is up to date. By the 4th I had my animation done. The only thing I needed to focus on was the website making sure everything was laid out correctly and made sure I didn't miss anything out.
